The Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre (KSACC) provides trauma counselling, support and information to survivors of all types of sexual violence including historical childhood sexualized abuse, and survivors of partner assault. Our counselling services can include one to one sessions as well as psycho-educational groups.
We provide counselling to women who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced emotional, physical, sexual, psychological, social and/or economic abuse. Our counsellors have specialized training and experience to provide support and advocacy. Counsellors may also address such issues as recognizing and understanding the dynamics of abuse; exploring the impact of past and current abuse; self care; learning new coping and assertiveness skills; and strengthening self-confidence & self-worth.
Our psycho-educational group counselling focuses on understanding violence and the dynamics of abuse; boundary setting; coping with stress, healthy relationship choices and self-worth as well as encouraging peer support. The groups are client-driven and topics can vary depending on the group's input.
We provide counselling services to male, non-offending victims of sexual assault and historical childhood sexual abuse. Service eligibility for male clients will be assessed on a case by case basis.
