About Us
The Kamloops Sexual Assault Counselling Centre’s (KSACC) is an inclusive feminist organization that supports individuals by providing free counselling, support services and advocacy. We aim to reduce stigma and engage community through education and prevention.
Role of the Board
As a nonprofit governance board, the Board of Directors is the legally responsible, fiduciary body that provides high-level strategic direction, oversight, and accountability for KSACC. As a member of the Board, each Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization. The Board focuses on mission fulfillment, financial sustainability, policy creation, and supporting the Agency Coordinator – who is responsible for all day-to-day operations.
What to Expect as a Board Member
- Serving KSACC as a Board director for a two-year mandate, which can be renewed twice.
- Meeting monthly with all Board directors (except for July, August, and December).
- Joining one of our committees: Finance & Fund Development, Policy & Governance, Human Resources & Safety, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, & Decolonization and Nominating.
- Board members may be interested in taking on a dedicated role with the Board, such as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, or Secretary.
- Participate in KSACC community events and staff meetings in person to support and promote advocacy and education.
- Dedicate an average of 4-6 hours per month, including board meetings, committee meetings, reading materials, and email communication.
What You Bring
We are looking for new Board members who are passionate about KSACC’s vision and values, committed to supporting and working with diverse viewpoints, and motivated to participate in advocacy and events supporting KSACC. KSACC values diversity and welcomes applications from individuals bringing a lived experience that reflects the communities and people we serve.
To complement the skillset of our current team, we are hoping to welcome new Board members that have skillsets in one or more of the following:
- Financial expertise (CPA designation, nonprofit experience is an asset).
- Fund development or donor stewardship.
- Workplace or privacy law.
- Professions caring for those underserved in our communities.
- A lived experience and/or strong relationship with Indigenous communities.
KSACC Board Member Application Process

To assist our Nominations Committee in the nomination process please:
- Review the KSACC By-Laws (Appendix A) and Board of Director’s Code of Conduct (Appendix B) included in our KSACC Board Application Package.
- Ensure you are a member of KSACC. If you are not a member, learn how to become a member here.
- Submit the nomination form included in our Board Application Package , a resume, and cover letter via email to [email protected] or in person to the KSACC Office by Monday May 11, 2026.
